REST DAY

Think of REST DAYS as GROWTH DAYS.

The reason you’re not getting stronger is more than likely because of the way you handle your off days! These days can really affect your ability to build muscle and gain strength. The most dedicated lifters often don’t take enough rest days. This also comes with how hard you’re pushing yourself during your training.

Off days can be HELL for most of us. We simply don’t want to take them. We tend to feel like we are slacking off, so we train, train, and train. This is a mistake! The vast majority of the most successful strength athletes will only train 4-5 days a week. Now this doesn’t mean they’re not doing some type of training. For example, on your off days, take these days to do stretching, mobility work, and some foam rolling. This helps your muscles recover and because you’re not training, don’t slack off on your nutrition as your body needs those nutrients to help build and recover.

When you take rest days, or again what we should call GROWTH DAYS, you will build more muscle, replenish glycogen stores more easily, and a huge key factor is you allow your central nervous system to get back to an optimal ass kicking state. All of these things will help you grow faster and improve your performance on the day you get back to the gym. You should and will be ready to own the day!!

So today isn’t a Rest Day, it’s a GROWTH DAY!! Bite down the urge, rest and fuel your body for tomorrow is SQUATS!!!
